Kentucky Derby

Kentucky Derby

Often called "the most exciting two minutes in sports", the Kentucky Derby was inaugurated in 1875. The first Derby (it was a mile-and-a-half back then) was won by a horse named Aristides. Now one-and-a-quarter miles in length, the legendary race is traditionally run on the first Saturday in May and attracts over 150,000 fans from around the world. It's the first of thoroughbred racing's annual Triple Crown.
